Measuring

Measuring for your Blinds is very critical to ensure a proper fit. The following advice is provided to simplify this task and avoid common problems.  If in any doubt, please check with Fabric Patch as we can not accept responsibility for mis-measured Blinds.

General Advice.

1. Use a steel measuring tape and measure to the millimetre. (Please do not use feet and inches).  In many cases, only a few millimetres is allowed for clearance. Measure at the top of the window or where the blind is to be fitted.

2. Homemakers Beaudesert will make the necessary allowances to ensure a proper fit based on your measurements.

3. When locating blinds in the recess of the window, check the depth of the recess, clear of handles and brackets. In most cases, blind can be fitted into shallow recesses but will protrude past the face level. If in doubt, note the recess depth on the form.

Verticals.

1. When located on the architrave over windows and sliding doors, the blind is best to extend 100mm past each architrave.  This will provide the best light block.

2. Choose standard chain linked weights or sewn-in weights.  Vertical blades with sewn-in weights will not get tangled but may flap more in the wind.

3. Choose which side you want the controls to be, being left or right when looking at the blind.  Then select where the blades will bunch. Choices include left hand bunch, right hand bunch, centre opening or centre bunching.

4. Note if the blind is to hang in the window recess or on the face. Different brackets are supplied for each situation.  A minimum of  70mm recess is required to use a standard recess bracket. If the recess is less than this, request extension brackets.

5. A choice of track colours is available including White, Grey and Primrose (Cream).

6. A Wand Track system eliminates strings and chains for opening and tilt adjustment.  It has a wand for drawing the blind, and the same wand is rotated to tilt the vertical blades.

Hollands {Roller)

1. Choose the standard spring control or a chain control. In the case of a chain control to raise and lower the blind, it may be positioned on the left or right side.

2. Choose which way the fabric will roll on the blind.  Standard Roll means the fabric will roll from the back of the blind close to the window and provide maximum light and privacy.  Reverse Roll means the fabric will roll from the front of the blind, hiding the roller.

3. Choose a plain finish or the fancy trim number.

Aluminium Venetians 25mm

1. Choose which side the controls are to go.

2. Choose whether hold down clips will be required. The clips stop the blind swaying in the wind and can be easily unclipped.  Hold down clips are generally recommended.

Timber and Timber Look Venetians

1. Choose which side the controls strings/wands are to go.

2. Choose whether hold down clips will be required. The clips stop the blind swaying in the wind and can be easily unclipped.  Hold down clips are generally recommended.

3. A pelmet is provided the same size as the blind. In the case of architrave (face) mounted venetians the pelmet includes a return to cover the ends. The returns may need to be trimmed to suit.
